Barcelona, Someday
September 18, 2008A traipse around Europe is one thing I’ll never stop hankering for. It’s no go right now with my budget and a second child on the way, but it pays to dream big and tall. Someday, the hub and I are going to wander around Europe and when we do, we’ll stop by all the major cities, all the crumbling ruins, all the places where the past and the present are melding. Naturally, Barcelona would be one of our stops. Barcelona is the stuff of legends, the city that dreams are made of. Founded a good 400 years before Rome, the city has been an important hub of culture, history, politics, and architecture from the time of the Crown of Aragon and well onto the present. Who cares that we can’t speak Spanish? We can mime. Acting out what we need might be frustrating but if we’re acting out and getting frustrated in Barcelona, who’s splitting hairs?
If our present earning capacity is any indicator of things to come, though, the hub and I would have to trawl for scrounge for cheap hotels. Europe isn’t cheap, and the peso to Euro conversion makes it even less so. Accommodations ought not to be a problem, though. In a metropolis as huge as Barcelona, I’m dead sure we can find affordable Barcelona hotels on every block.
So bring on the world map and all the grand travel plans. A’traipsing around Europe we’ll go someday.
