The Nevergirl is on holiday…
December 23, 2007in Bohol, where the lechon is always crisp, the beaches pretty, the sands blindingly white. She has sworn never to come near a PC the entire time, so all ye who need to reach her should just send her telepathic mail. That, or call/text her. She has tied her trusty Nokia and her prima donna Samsung to her intestines so she can stay connected to the world, 24/7.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Year-end
December 21, 2007It’s when you’re in a crowd that you realize you’re at your loneliest. We had our Christmas shindig earlier. My sister and I cabbed home because the husband was somewhere else with his officemates. I kept up a cheery chatter throughout the ride. A face wash and tootbrush session later, I cried. I don’t know why. Is it because the lights shine unusually brighter this time of the year? Or because the end of the year came much sooner than expected?
I find it strange that I cried. I’d like to think it’s because I’m exhausted. Runners know the feeling, I think. You run so hard and so long you forget where your feet end and where the road begins. You set your mind to a certain stop. Then, you find yourself at the end of the road sooner than you had believed possible. Do you whoop with joy? Dance around in almost comic delight? I think you’d cry, more out of disbelief and pent-up relief than anything else.
I hope to God that is what these tears mean. Please universe, I cannot stand more psychoanalysis.
