Fiction #3: I Love You
August 21, 2007I love you. I love you so much it frightens me. How could one person embody all the happiness in the world? And yet you are that to me. You contain all the joys and sorrows of this lifetime. You are to me all the laughters and tears I’d ever have coming, all the promises - both kept and unkept.
I love you so much it hurts. It scares me to put so much heart and soul on the line for one person. I know your face by heart. I know it so well I could tell you where bone meets flesh, for instance, or how your brows meet together when you’re mad or are thinking hard about something.
You do not know it, but sometimes, I listen to you breathe; and I imagine that your breathing is the sound your heart makes when it tries to talk to me.
